Nokia 6.2 rumor lists specs, reveals possible pricing & announcement timeline
The original Nokia 6 landed in January 2017 and its successor, the Nokia 6.1, debuted twelve months later. Consequently, the announcement of this year’s Nokia 6.2 was first expected to take place in January but rumors later mentioned an introduction at MWC 2019 in February.
Fast forward to the present day and Nokia’s new 6-series smartphone is yet to be unveiled. But thanks to a new rumor we now know when it might be announced, how much it could cost, and what specs it may offer.
Kicking things off with a look at the smartphone’s insides, earlier reports mentioned the presence of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 632. However, according to the newest info, HMD Global’s next phone will adopt the older yet more powerful Snapdragon 660 that was used inside last year’s Nokia 7 Plus.
Accompanying the chip as standard should be 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The latter should be expandable via microSD cards and if users are looking for a slightly snappier experience, a variant with 6GB of RAM will reportedly be made available too.
In regards to the Nokia 6.2’s external design, it’s suggested the smartphone will be a slightly smaller version of the China-only Nokia X71. Specifically, a 6-inch AMOLED display complete with a cutout and a Full-HD+ (2280×1080) resolution is listed. Paired with this should be a rear vertical camera setup that’s home to a 20-megapixel main snapper, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.
Other features should include stock Android 9 Pie pre-installed as part of the Android One program and a 3,300mAh battery.
According to the latest rumors, HMD Global will announce the Nokia 6.2 at some point next month alongside the physically identical Nokia 7.2. An exact release date hasn’t yet been revealed but it’s suggested the Nokia 6.2 will retail at 1199 Yuan and 1499 Yuan in China for the 4GB and 6GB variants respectively. These prices equate to €156 and €195 if converted directly, but the final retail prices in Europe will probably be slightly higher, perhaps in the region of €179 and €219.
